Workshop in Batumi

On 7 July 2017, the Sustainable Development and Policy (SDAP) Center, within the EU funded project – Retrofitting 3 kindergartens in Rustavi City in order to achieve high energy efficiency standards and greenhouse emission reduction – organized the workshop for the representatives of the Batumi and Adjara region municipalities.

The director of the SDAP, Karine Melikidze, presented the EU funded project and the implemented and current reconstruction works. The project officer, Giorgi Lekveishvili presented all energy efficient technologies, which were installed in the kindergartens within the project. The project communication officer, Natia Svanidze introduced to the participants all communication activities implemented within the EU project.

 

The purpose of the meeting was to share the experiences with the municipalities of the Adjara region and to interest them with the energy efficient projects.

 

The representatives of the Batumi and Adjara region municipalities attended the event.

The sustainable development and policy center is implementing the project within the framework of the EU program – “Covenant of Mayors demonstration projects” (CoMDeP).

The project aims at rehabilitation of 3 kindergarten buildings (#6, #40, #41) in Rustavi, implementation of modern energy efficient measures and installation of renewable energy technologies. The reconstruction works involves:

  • Installation of the heating and hot water supply systems (in combination with solar collectors),
  • Installation of the ventilation system
  • Installation of the new electrical system
  • Installation of the energy-efficient windows and doors
  • The building exterior insulation

 

At this stage the energy efficient reconstruction of the kindergartens #6 and #40 in Rustavi has been completed. The rehabilitation of the third, #41 kindergarten will be finished in August.
