The first and the second stages of the reconstruction works of the kindergartens #6 and #40 in Rustavi under the EU granted project -„Retrofitting 3 kindergartens in Rustavi City in order to achieve high energy efficiency standards and greenhouse emission reduction” has been finished.

Under the first stage the heating with boiler room and the hot water supply systems (in combination with solar collectors) as well as the comprehensive ventilation system with the heat recovery, the absolutely new lighting system with the efficient bulbs, and energy-efficient windows with the low emissivity glazing and under the second stage the thermal insulation of the exterior components of the kindergarten buildings have been installed in both kindergartens.

This project is implementing by the Sustainable Development and Policy (SDAP) Center with the financial support of the EU Commission and the Rustavi City Municipality.

The total budget of the project is 808 765 Euro, where the Rustavi Municipality contribution is 162 138 Euro.

The State Governor of the Kvemo Kartli, Paata Khizanishvili, the Mayor of the Rustavi City, David Jikia, the Deputy Mayors: David Lobjanidze and Nodar Sherozia, and the Director of the Sustainable Development and Policy Center, Dr. Karina Melikidze visited both kindergartens and attended the events there.

The Director of the Sustainable Development and Policy Center, Dr. Karina Melikidze granted the children of both kindergartens with the colored pencils and the colorings. The presentations about the project implementation were made for the parents and the kindergartens’ stuff.

The energy efficient retrofitting of the third kindergarten #41 will be implemented during this summer.
